P.M. Johnston
November 30, 1927 – November 13, 1995
P.M. Johnston was a charter member of Lake Shore Baptist, where he played an important role in its founding, taught in the College Sunday School Class, and served as a Deacon.
He was born in Tarrant County, Texas, in 1927 to Frank and Marie Johnston. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he completed a law degree at Baylor University and pursued a legal career that included several high-profile cases. He served as the Mayor of Waco during 1966-1968 and as Chair of the Human Relations Council for Waco during 1969. Working with the Heart of Texas Council of Governments, he helped in the founding of Texas State Technical College, and served on its first Board of Trustees. For these and other forms of public service, he was named one of Five Outstanding Young Texans by the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
P.M. married Barbara Ann Brown Johnston in 1951, and they had three sons: Jerry, Jeff, and Jack. From 1976 until his passing in 1995, he was married to Beverly Bartlett Johnston
