Jennie Tilda Lindquist Valentine
August 7, 1922 – April 26, 2013
Jennie Tilda Lindquist Valentine was born August 7, 1922, in Denair, California, the daughter of Nils & Jennie Lindquist and sister of Hugo Nathaniel, John Laurence and Ester Charlotte. She died April 26, 2013, in Waco, Texas. Funeral services were held on April 29, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Hillsboro with Rev. Ken James and Rev. Dorisanne Cooper officiating.
She was raised in San Francisco and attended schools there, graduating from high school in June 1940. She was a member of First Baptist San Francisco where she met and married Aubrey Valentine who was serving in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge, with their infant daughter Marie, they moved to Lubbock where they were in partnership in the restaurant business. Two sons were added, John and then Larry.
Subsequent moves were made, the last of which brought them to Hillsboro where they lived for 55 years. They joined First Baptist Church and she served as secretary for 40 years, retiring September 30, 1998. Subsequent to two falls, she and Val were no longer able to live alone. They moved to The Legends and from there to an apartment in Hillsboro.
After the last fall, they moved to Lubbock to be near John. She stayed there after Val died in October, 2008, until moving to Waco in 2010 to live with Marie. She joined Lake Shore Baptist Church that year and was a member of the Philia Sunday School class. Preceding her in death were her husband of 65 years, Aubrey, her parents and both brothers.
She is survived by her 3 children-Marie, John & wife Pat, Larry & wife Karen as well as 5 grandchildren-Ryan & wife Kristie, Jill & husband Joe Hill, Jeremy & wife Amy, Vanessa & husband Alex Garrett and Rachel. She had 9 great-grandchildren- Shane & Sadie Valentine, Jaxson & Ryah Hill, Kate & Drew Valentine, Peyton, Sidney & Reagan Garrett.
