NOTE: Bobby (or “Bobbee,” as she was known at Lake Shore and in the local community) was part of the team that created many of our banners, and she was a lively participant in our activities for many years)
Bobby Joyce Watts was born January 1, 1930 in Louisville, KY to Rolla O. Boggs and Ocie Bee Boggs. On December 27, 2016, she went home to be with her Lord in Heaven. She was a resident of Kingwood, TX for the last 5 years after living in Waco, TX for over 20 years.
Bobby was raised in a family with 5 girls and 2 boys. She lived in her hometown of Louisville, KY until graduating high school, when she moved with her family to Richland, WA, where she met and married her husband, Robert A. Watts, Jr. She raised 4 children while serving the Lord as a minister’s wife and living in various states including Washington, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and New Mexico. She worked as a nursing assistant for many years and cared for her husband for 17 years after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease until his death in 1998. Bobby was an excellent artist and seamstress. She loved babies and children and showed it by volunteering her time sewing blankets for the babies of unwed mothers and created beautiful burial gowns for infants made from wedding dresses. Her artwork will be prized for years to come by those who own it. She was quick to make a joke and a friend. Her memory will bring smiles to all who knew her.
She is survived by 3 sisters, Betty Whiting of Fort Myers FL, Joan Wisler of Kennewick WA, and Judy Carlson of Richland WA, daughters Wendy Smith of Tajique NM and Melody Williams of Lufkin TX, and sons Barry Watts of Grand Prairie TX and Robin Watts of Kingwood TX.
